Kathua, India Desk, Delhi Magazine– In a significant counter-terrorism operation, the Indian Army has neutralized Rehan Ali, a terrorist from Rawalkot, Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK), in Jammu’s Kathua district. Rehan Ali was part of a group of militants infiltrating from across the border, reportedly planning an attack on a remote village in the region.

According to military sources, Ali and other militants, believed to be affiliated with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), were on a mission to massacre Hindu civilians, including women and children, in the name of “Jihad” and “Azadi” (independence). The timely intervention by the Indian Army thwarted their plans, preventing a potential tragedy.

Rehan Ali’s intentions highlight the ongoing threat posed by militant groups targeting innocent civilians in the region. This incident is reminiscent of historical violence that has plagued the region, including the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in 1989, when nearly 97% of the indigenous Hindu population was forcibly displaced from the Kashmir Valley by militants aiming to establish an Islamic state.

The Indian Army’s successful operation underscores the persistent challenges in maintaining security and protecting civilians from cross-border terrorism. It also serves as a stark reminder of the destructive ideologies that continue to fuel violence in the region.

Local authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security forces to ensure the safety and security of all communities in Jammu and Kashmir.
