The sad news was announced by his son, Kiefer Sutherland, on social media. “With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father has died. Personally, I consider him one of the most important actors in the history of cinema. Never discouraged by a role, good, bad or ugly,” Kiefer wrote. Sutherland, known for his iconic roles in numerous films, including “The Dirty Dozen,” had a profound impact on the world of cinema.
“My father loved what he did and did what he loved, and you could never ask for more. A life well lived,” Kiefer added, sharing a poignant black-and-white photo of himself as a child with his father.
In July 2023’s episode of “Pod Meets World,” Rider Strong mentioned an interesting anecdote about Sutherland. Strong said that his former costar had a rule on set that “nobody can make eye contact with him” unless an actor was in a scene with him. This quirk highlighted the distinctive personality and the professional boundaries Sutherland maintained during his extensive career.
